We have had a number of enquiries about the use of Mica in our products. Mica is the name given to a group of silicate materials that are ground down to create a sparkling powder. We, like many makeup brands, use it to create a natural shimmer in our products. However, the mining of Mica in India has been closely associated with child labour, which raises ethical concerns for consumers and companies alike.
When choosing suppliers, we require any manufacturers, including third-party manufacturers, to sign a code of compliance stating that they do not use or condone any child or forced labour at any stage in the manufacturing process. So, the only suppliers and manufacturers we use have signed this declaration confirming that they are only providing us with Mica that has been ethically sourced. Therefore, from inception, Unhidden Beauty has prioritised sourcing Mica ethically.
We continue to use these suppliers and aim to ensure our supply chain is as transparent and ethical as possible.
In the same manner as we are completely against cruelty to animals, hence our membership to PETA, we are also wholly against cruelty to individuals resulting in the mica used in our products being completely free of the use of child labour.
